MISSION STATEMENT

Institute of Conscious Choice is a non-profit educational organization with the vision that all people can live in a mutually enhancing relationship with the earth. We envision a world in which people, inspired by nature, create and maintain healthy and abundant livelihoods that enhance fertility and biodiversity on the planet. We envision humans as a positive, healing presence on Earth, creating more abundance on the planet than would be possible without them.

Our mission is to serve as a catalyst for a revolution in the way humans relate to the natural world. As we continue to develop Ashbury Herb Gardens into a demonstration site in permaculture and regenerative design, we serve as an inspiration of possibility for how people can live in a mutually enhancing relationship with the Earth. Through our programs and courses, we teach the skills and technology people need to become community leaders and create healthy solutions to the current environmental crisis.

Kathy's additional mission is to preserve the oldest carbon dated Aquifer that runs unerneath her home and property that comes from Primary Waters of the Baraboo Range in the state of Wisconsin.

Founder  of the Instutue of Conscious Choice llc Kathleen Blakeslee is a naturalist, eco designer and master gardener along with being an herbalist, she holds degrees in Botany, Holistic Nutrition coaching, Eco Design from the University of Minnesota as well as  being a certified teacher of Permaculture Design from the Occidental end Ecology Center in Occidental, California.

Kathy has been nationally recognized for growing herbs for over 25 years along with her organic gardening skills. She is also a phyto and-medicine specialist along with teaching live food nutrition. Her passion is growing edible landscapes and juicing raw foods for the best medicine to restore your health for sources for optimum health, she enjoys teaching and sharing this journey back to wellnesss so that we all may learn thrive in today's ever changing society.Her talents have given birth to her organic farm named Ashbury Herb Gardens which she created in 1994. This organic herb farm is now about to be  transformed into a The Sustainability Institute llc for teaching Permaculture and Holistic Lifeatyles called the Institute of Conscious Choice llc. this holistic farm is tucked away in the rolling hils of Baraboo in Sauk Country, Wisconsin where pure artesian wells bubble out of the crystaline quartzite hills of the Baraboo Range on her property.

Kathy's grew up in Wisconsin but has worked and lived most of her adult life living in the Bay Area of San Francisco working in the organic food movement. She has also done medicianal plant research, lived around the world an has taught in the topics of social sustainability and phyto medicine.. Kathy has now returned home to her roots in Wisconsin to live and share her passion of organic gardening, pernaculture and healing with herbs. She is a certified teacher of permaculture earning her degree at the OAEC in Occidental, California,which a practical guide to small scale and integrative farming. Permaculture is a form of sustainable living practices that was created by a man from Australia named Bill Mollison where Kathy has studied and lived in the 1990's, now she offers this knowledge as she travels and works in Central America in the country of Costa Rica.

Kathy's vision for her life now is to teach how to become ecological guardians of the land and to transform cultures from consumerism to sustainability while also teaching her healing talents.

Kathy spends most of her time  at her organic herb farm in Baraboo  Wisconsin where she has created Ashbury Herb Gardens soon to become now The Institute of Conscious Choice, an Institute of Sustainablilty which will feature the practice of Permaculture.

She sells her herb plants at the Dane County farmers market in Madison, Wisconsin where she she held the same stall since 1992. She enjoys sharing her knowledge with many on how to grow an organic garden, plant an herb garden and the healing ways of medicinal herbs which she has studied for years in the jungles of Central America.

Kathy has lived in Australia where she was introduced to and studied the art of Permaculture, she has worked at Smith and Hawken garden store with Paul Hawken in Mill Valley, CA among with other garden stores in the Bay Area and has lived and taught at Esalen Institute in Big Sur. She is a member of the American Herbalist Guild, Marin Organics as well as Bioneers and the Pachamama Alliance located in Caifornia. Kathy is a charter member of the International Herb Growers and Marketing Assoiciation created in 1982.

Kathy has been featured on the cover's 'Grower's Talks' and also 'Horticulture' magazines among many others. and is now a writer for' Wake Up World.' Kathy has since worked on a Master's degree in Etho-Botany and also holds a degree in Eco Design from the University on Minnesote in the 1970's and is currently is a Holitic and Nutrition Life Style Coach and has her earned certication from OACA in Sabastapol, California in Permaculture Design. Kathy is a consultant and shares with people how to plant an organic garden, living an organic lifestyle, growing medicinal botanical herbs and teaches that Organic Food in your Best Medicine.
